David Kaplan: Yeah
The misfit cousins reunite for a trip to Poland to honor their beloved grandmother, but their old differences are brought to the fore by their family history. When Benjy and David visit their grandmother’s home in Poland, the place where Jesse Eisenberg’s real-life ancestors settled in exile. Benjy Kaplan: We’re always moving, we’re light, we’re agile. Benji Kaplan: The conductor will come and take our tickets, we’ll tell him we’re going to the bathroom. David Kaplan: The bathroom. Benji Kaplan: He gets to the back of the train and starts moving toward the front, looking for those who were left behind.
Benjy Kaplan: Yeah
David Kaplan: Excuse me, are we late? By the time he gets to the start, the train will be at the station and we’ll be free to go home. David Kaplan: That’s so fucking stupid. The tickets probably cost twelve dollars. Benji Kaplan: It’s a principle. You don’t have to pay for train tickets in Poland.
It’s our country
David Kaplan: No, it’s not, it was our country. They kicked us out because they thought we were cheap. CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode No. 46.44 (2024). 12 Etudes, Op. 25, No.
Saw it at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024
3 in F major Author: Frederic Chopin Performer: Zvi Erez. Jesse Eisenberg previously directed When You’re Done Saving the World, which was interesting but unfortunately a bit annoying. Here, Eisenberg’s direction and the script for this film show that he has improved a lot, as many of the characters are interesting and engaging, the dialogue is good, and the acting is great, especially Kieran Culkin, who steals the show throughout the film. The story explores family history and complex relationships, as each theme and case study was well-examined and was funny, emotional, and interesting to watch. With beautiful cinematography, a good soundtrack, and dialogue that felt real, authentic, and engaging. Eisenberg’s approach to chemistry, structure, and pacing was good, as he crafted a really good, engaging, and personal story about family history and the true meaning of connections and relationships.
There were a few soundtrack choices that felt a little off
But overall, Eisenberg has improved, and I’m looking forward to seeing what else he can deliver today. From Alien: Romulus to Home on the Road, check out some of our favorite 2024 posters.
